The former Swansea City man resigned from Leeds a few weeks ago, and is set to be interviewed along with Nigel Pearson.

Middlesbrough will be looking to make an announcement on their managerial situation in the near future, with ex Leeds United boss Garry Monk and former Leicester City man Nigel Pearson both to be interviewed for the vacant position this week, as reported by The Mirror.
Monk’s departure from Leeds was surprising to say the least, with the former Swansea City player – and manager – walking away from a contract offer from new owner Andrea Radrizzani, having taken the Whites to seventh in the Championship.

The Mirror claim that Monk purposefully resigned to take over at Boro, who have been without a permanent manager since they decided to sack Aitor Karanka – who, ironically, could be set to take the Leeds job, also as reported by The Mirror.
However, Boro are keeping their options open and are also going to speak to Nigel Pearson – most recently at Derby County – who made 115 league appearances for Middlesbrough as a player, and even captained them for a period of time.

Pearson has a good record in the Championship having won promotion with Leicester, and then keeping them in the Premier League the following season – but his spell with Derby was something of a disaster, with Pearson winning just three of his 14 games in charge.
According to The Mirror, Sunderland and Crystal Palace are also chasing Monk to be their new manager, and it seems very likely that the former Leeds man will be back in a dugout very quickly.
