Leeds United fans may remember the name Alfonso Pedraza.

Leeds United’s push for promotion is certainly going better than it was in 2017, even though fans were concerned that a similar fall would occur after January.
Marcelo Bielsa and co weren’t exactly busy in January of this year, but his side have kept going for promotion, two years after Garry Monk’s Leeds fell apart in pursuit of a play-off place.
Many pinned the collapse on a poor January. Monk was able to sign just two players; Modou Barrow from Swansea City, and Alfonso Pedraza from Villarreal, both on loan.
Barrow now features for Reading, but what is Pedraza up to? After scoring once in 14 games for Leeds, the Spaniard returned to Villarreal but moved on loan to Alaves, where he thrived as a left back rather than as a winger.
The 23-year-old has played all up the left flank for Villarreal this season, notching four goals and three assists – and he now appears to be attracting huge interested.
Bild note that Borussia Dortmund are keen, citing back to reports from Marca that Atletico Madrid and Sevilla are also keen, given that Pedraza has a €22million (£19million) release clause in his Villarreal contract.

Dortmund are looking at a whole host of left backs, including Nico Schulz and Jerome Roussillon, but Pedraza has also popped up on their radar in what would be a bold move for the German side.
Just as Leeds could be playing in the Premier League next season, Pedraza could be featuring for Borussia Dortmund – and few would have predicted that second part two years ago.
