Ipswich to reportedly interview Sol Campbell about their vacant manager’s position.

Ex Arsenal player Sol Campbell looks on during the Emirates FA Cup Final between Arsenal and Chelsea at Wembley Stadium on May 27, 2017 in London, England.

Ipswich Town are going to interview Sol Campbell as their search for a new manager continues following the departure of Mick McCarthy, reports the Telegraph.

McCarthy left the Championship club by mutual consent earlier in April and owner Marcus Evans is keen to appoint a successor as soon as possible.

Evans has enlisted the help of former Tottenham Hotspur manager and director of football, David Pleat, who worked with Campbell at Spurs and has put his name forward.

The ex-Arsenal and England defender is expected to hold talks with the Tractor Boys about their managerial position in the next few weeks.

Campbell has made no secret of his desire to get into management and was interviewed by League One outfit Oxford United last month before they eventually gave the job to Karl Robinson.

The 43-year-old also revealed to Sky Sports’ Goals on Sunday programme that he had an interview with Grimsby Town earlier this year, but was turned down for the role due to a lack of experience.
