The Mirror suggest that Newcastle could still sign Sevilla defender Diego Carlos this month – with ‘everything in the hands’ of the Toon. It has been reported that Newcastle need to meet his £38million asking price.

Something, so far, Newcastle are yet to do. Amanda Staveley has publicly stated that she does not want to overspend just because of Newcastle’s riches. Indeed, spending big now, reduces spend in the summer.

That is down to Financial Fairplay. So, while Newcastle are laden with cash, they must be careful how they spent their money – and certainly, how much. They are wary that clubs are going to charge premium prices.

Sky Sports claim Sevilla want as much as £38million – a fee Newcastle have been so far, unwilling to pay. But the Mirror claims that ‘everything is in the hands’ of Newcastle. A deal will go through, if they meet the asking price.

£38m for Carlos: Is Sevilla defender worth it for Newcastle?

Without a doubt. Carlos has the defensive ability to keep Newcastle up, his physical frame strikes fear into attackers. Not only that, but he is superb in the air and excellent with the ball on the deck. He is the marquee signing.

Can Newcastle get a deal over the line? Well, the Mirror says it how it is. Newcastle will sign Carlos, if they meet the asking price. The player himself is keen on the Toon project, and personal terms would not be an issue.
