Report: Everton’s Sam Byrne to complete Dundalk loan move on Tuesday

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international has yet to make a first team appearance since his 2014 move to Everton from Manchester United.

Everton striker Sam Byrne will complete a move to Dundalk on Tuesday, according to the Irish Herald.

The Republic of Ireland Under-21 international has yet to make a first team appearance since his 2014 move to Everton from Manchester United.

His progress has, however, been hampered by a broken leg suffered in 2016.

According to the Irish Herald, that has not deterred either Dundalk or Cork City, although it is the former who are said to have won the race to sign Byrne on a six-month loan deal.

Everton career over?

The 22-year-old’s Everton deal expires this summer, and it is unlikely therefore that he will get that elusive first outing.

Nevertheless, Byrne can at least take heart from players such as Keith Fahey, Richie Towell and Sean Maguire, whose League of Ireland success after failed spells in English and Scottish football led to second chances back in the UK.

Byrne left Dublin side St Joseph’s Boys to sign for Manchester United in 2011.

Stokes, who only made one competitive appearance for Leeds, can take heart from players such as Keith Fahey, Richie Towell and Sean Maguire, whose League of Ireland success after failed spells in English and Scottish football led to second chances in the UK.
