Everton made a £45 million bid for Swansea City star Gylfi Sigurdsson, but that has been turned down by the Premier League side.
According to a report from Wales Online, Swansea City have knocked back Everton’s latest bid for Gylfi Sigurdsson and are becoming frustrated with the Toffees’ pursuit of the Iceland international.
Wales Online reports that Everton initially made a £40 million bid for the 27-year-old – who was instrumental in keeping the Welsh side in the Premier League last season, scoring nine and contributing 13 assists – but that was rejected by their top flight rivals as they held out for £50 million.
Swansea’s Gylfi Sigurdsson
Everton have since returned with another bid that involved the same fee up front while another £5 million would be paid in add-ons, but Wales Online have now suggested that that offer has also been turned down.
Wales Online adds that the Swans hierarchy are becoming frustrated with Everton’s pursuit, so perhaps it would be fair to suggest that the race for the Sigurdsson’s signature – which Leicester City are also involved in and have offered to pay £40 million for also.
With Everton showing plenty of ambition during this window already, and with Ronald Koeman’s men already offering £45 million, Toffees fans will surely be urging their club to pay the difference between the two valuations before they scupper their chances of bringing the playmaker to Goodison Park.
Sigurdsson surely has the talent to help Everton to make further strides forward next term, and so it would surely be incredibly frustrating for the club if they ultimately miss out over £5 million having been keen enough to offer nine times that amount already.
