Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla has claimed on his website that Serie A side Napoli have been offered Everton flop Davy Klaassen on Tuesday afternoon, first being proposed to Inter Milan on Monday.

The 24-year-old has struggled to make an impact at Goodison Park since joining the club from Dutch champions Ajax for a huge £25million, making just 13 appearances in all competitions.

He has completed 90 minutes in an Everton shirt just three times, coming off as a substitute on seven occasions while entering the fray from the bench three times for the Merseyside club.

Just half a season after joining Everton, Klaassen is said to be looking for a change of scenery and a move to Italy is now on the cards with both Inter and Napoli consider a move to sign the 16-time Netherlands international.

It remains to be seen whether a move will be a permanent transfer or indeed just a loan until the end of the season, with four and a half years remaining on the five-year contract he signed in July.

Everton already boast Wayne Rooney and Gylfi Sigurdsson as number 10’s, while Idrissa Gueye, Tom Davies, Morgan Schneiderlin, James McCarthy and more occupy the central midfield roles.

A loan to Italy could see Klaasseen rediscover his form and return a better, more mature player, or it could see the Toffees look to recuperate the majority of the outlay they spent in the summer.
