Everton are reportedly set to send Jonjoe Kenny out on loan to Germany.

According to German newspaper Bild, Everton defender Jonjoe Kenny is edging closer to joining Schalke, with talks progressing well.

Kenny, 22, has come up through the ranks with the Toffees, and whilst he’s long been tipped for a bright future, he’s struggled to really break past Seamus Coleman in the right back pecking order.

The England Under-21 international started just eight Premier League games this past season, and he looks set to move out on loan in a shock move.

Premier League clubs have been strongly linked with Kenny, but German newspaper Bild report that he’s actually nearing a move to the Bundesliga with Schalke.

It’s stated that talks are progressing well, with Schalke working hard to win the race for Kenny in a move that few could have predicted.

The report notes that boss David Wagner is familiar with Kenny from English football, and believes that he can be more than just a backup for wing back Daniel Caligiuri.

Everton loaned out another English player to Germany in 2018 by sending Ademola Lookman to RB Leipzig, and he thrived over in the Bundesliga, so Kenny may well be hoping for similar success.

By letting Kenny go so early in the window, it surely means that Everton will be signing another right back this summer as expected, rather than giving him a chance to shine in pre-season, and Toffees fans will be expecting a new recruit with Kenny on his way.
