Everton youngster Dominic Calvert-Lewin will reportedly be in today’s squad to face West Ham United.
Dominic Calvert Lewin celebrates scoring for Northampton
According to the Daily Mail, Everton have called teenage striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin into their squad for today’s Premier League clash with West Ham United.
The Toffees head into the game having picked up just two points from their last four games, and manager Ronald Koeman will be desperate to pick up a win today having lost 2-1 away at Burnley last weekend.
Everton’s Enner Valencia
Romelu Lukaku is set to lead the line again, but there will be a striker missing for Everton in Ecuadorian international Enner Valencia.
Valencia, 26, joined Everton on a season-long loan deal back on deadline day in September, and has been serving as Lukaku’s backup so far this seaso.
However, Valencia’s parent club is West Ham United, and under the terms of his loan deal, he is unable to play against the Hammers.
Everton manager Ronald Koeman
That leaves Everton needing a striker on the bench, and it seems that another attacker who joined the Toffees on deadline day is in line for a place in the squad for the first time this season.
19-year-old Dominic Calvert-Lewin joined Everton from Sheffield United, and has now only been impressing for the Everton Under-23’s, but also for the England Under-20’s, scoring three times in three caps.
Everton’s Goodison Park
Now, according to the Daily Mail, Everton manager Ronald Koeman has been impressed with Calvert-Lewin’s displays in training and with the Under-23’s, and will call the teenager into his squad for today’s game.
Calvert-Lewin should therefore be on the bench, and much like Marcus Rashford showed for Manchester United last season, you just never know when a young striker can become a Premier League star once given the chance to shine.
