Everton appear desperate to get rid of Oumar Niasse – but are they asking for too much money for the former Hull City loanee?

Hull City's Oumar Niasse after being sent off

It’s difficult to decipher whether Oumar Niasse enhanced his reputation during a five-month loan spell at Hull City.

Exiled by Ronald Koeman at Everton, denied a shirt number, a locker or a place in the first-team squad, the Senegalese international certainly fared better at the KCom Stadium. Yet, despite netting four Premier League goals, including a clincher in a stunning win against Liverpool and a brace in a comeback triumph over Swansea City, Niasse could not save Hull from relegation.

And, at times, you could see exactly why Everton wrote him off. An inability to sniff out goalscoring positions, plus a galling tendency to hold onto the ball far too long, certainly contributed to an ill-timed seven game barren streak at the end of the season.

Therefore, it’s no surprise that The Toffees are looking to farm him off on a permanent basis this summer. However, it appears that they will have to take quite the hit to get Niasse off their books.

Niasse became the third most expensive player in Everton’s history when they paid Spartak Moscow £13.5 million in January 2016 (BBC).

However, a year-and-a-half on, Fotospor claim that Everton will be fortunate to find a club willing to pay just £7.8 million for his signature. The report adds that Trabzonspor want to bring the former Akhisar Belediyespor goalscorer back to Turkey, having attempted to sign him in January.

Nonetheless, it appears that Everton may be stuck with Niasse for a little while longer.
