Everton will not be loaning out midfielder James McCarthy this month, and Ronald Koeman is reluctant to sell – according to the Liverpool Echo.
The Irish midfielder has struggled for form recently and has been regularly linked with a move away from the club.
Aston Villa and Newcastle United were reportedly keen on a loan move for the player, but Everton are not looking to loan the player out as they see him as too valuable an asset to do so.

Everton are willing to entertain permanent offers, at the right price, but Koeman is not keen on selling him just yet.
McCarthy has struggled to meet his usually high standards and has been outperformed by summer signing Idrissa Gana Gueye.
But with the Senegal international away at the African Cup of Nations for the rest of the month, Mo Besic still out injured and Tom Cleverley also a potential leaver Everton may rely on McCarthy for some time yet.

The midfielder’s stock has fallen at Everton this season but fans will know he still has the ability to be an important member of the squad.
It looks like his future is not at Goodison Park under Koeman’s management, but it seems he will be going nowhere this month.
