If Wayne Rooney joins DC United then Everton and Manchester United will have to subsidise his wages.

Wayne Rooney is on the verge of joining MLS franchise DC United from Everton this summer, according to the Sun, with the forward having accepted his time as a Premier League footballer is over.
Rooney has allegedly fallen out with manager Sam Allardyce following a row after being substituted during the Merseyside derby with Liverpool back in April.

The 32-year-old still has a year left to run on his contract at Goodison Park, but could leave early with a move to the east coast of the USA appealing to him and his family.
However, if Rooney is to join the side based in the American capital then the Toffees will have to subsidise the striker’s wages – to the tune of £50,000-a-week.

The Englishman currently earns £15m-a-year, of which £10m is still paid by his former club Manchester United as part of the deal that saw him return to his boyhood team last summer.
That would need to continue next campaign too, with DC United only willing to pay him £3m-a-year. It would mean Everton would have to make up the shortfall.
