Athletic Bilbao could allow Iago Herrerin to leave on a free this summer with West Ham United leading Crystal Palace and Everton in the race for the veteran goalkeeper, according to Marca.
With just three weeks until the new Premier League campaign gets underway, a trio of top-flight clubs are far from certain about their options between the sticks.
At West Ham, Lukasz Fabianski has just not been the same since spending many a month on the sidelines in the first half of the campaign. Palace, meanwhile, are fretting about Vicente Guaita’s fate as the Spaniard’s contract runs down.
And the less said about Jordan Pickford’s form at Everton the better.
But according to reports in Spain, Carlo Ancelotti’s Toffees have identified the 32-year-old Herrerin as the man capable of putting pressure on their under-fire number one at Goodison.

Basque-born Herrerin also has admirers at Selhurst Park and the London Stadium.
He still has a year left on his contract but Athletic are willing to let their long-serving academy graduate leave San Mames for absolutely nothing after 13 years of loyal service.
Herrerin made just five La Liga appearances in 2019/20 thanks to the emergence of Unai Simon, arguably the best Spanish goalkeeper in the game today.
The same fate befell him during Kepa Arrizabalaga’s formative years at Athletic too.
It remains to be seen, however, if Herrerin would be happy to sit on the bench at Everton with just a few years left at the top level. Only once has the experienced glovesman made more than 30 appearances in a league season.
