According to talkSPORT and Fabrizio Romano, Everton want to sign Asmir Begovic this summer after he became a free agent.
The Bosnian goalkeeper is a Premier League veteran, and after Robin Olsen returned to Roma he would provide adequate backup behind Jordan Pickford.
Begovic would certainly be a shrewd addition. He’s available on a free and he’s as experienced as they come, even winning a Premier League title with Chelsea back in 2017.
Begovic was once described as a ‘quality’ goalkeeper by ESPN goalkeeper Craig Burley, and while he has declined a little in recent years, he’s still a top-notch stopper.
The former Stoke City glovesman also shares something in common with one of Everton’s all-time great goalies.

Indeed, both he and Tim Howard have scored long-range goals in the Premier League, and Begovic’s strike against Southampton actually broke the Guinness World Record for the longest range goal scored in competitive football, although that record was broken earlier this year.
Begovic is reportedly in talks with the Toffees over a two-year deal, and it seems as though those talks are progressing well.
It may not be long before we get an official announcement on this deal.
