Well, Everton remain interested in a certain Barcelona player it seems.

The Toffees have been linked with signing Brazilian goalkeeper Neto since last summer, when Rafael Benitez was manager at Goodison Park.

A summer transfer to Merseyside never materialised but Everton are still reportedly interested in the out-of-favour stopper.

According to Sport in Spain, the Blues are keen to sign the 32-year-old goalkeeper – who has managed only two Liga starts this season – and that he’s available for around £12 million.

The report adds that Neto himself is growing ‘tired’ of his situation at Camp Nou and is desperate for another project, having joined for £29 million from Valencia in 2019.

Sport also write that Everton’s interest hinges on whether or not Frank Lampard avoids relegation.

Lampard has endured four successive Premier League defeats already – including a 4-0 demolition by Tottenham Hotspur – and the Toffees are only outside of the relegation zone on goal difference from Watford.

Realistic?

Honestly, probably not.

Neto is obviously champing at the bit for regular football, considering that he’s started two league games for Barcelona this season.

Problem is, Jordan Pickford, Everton’s current number one, is a far better goalkeeper and therefore the Brazilian will simply find himself in the same situation in England, stuck behind a superior footballer in the pecking order.

The Toffees definitely need a better covering option than Asmir Begovic but Neto wants a far more substantial role at his next club and therefore, this isn’t logical.
