According to The Sun, Everton are hoping to hijack Roma’s move to re-sign Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny this summer.
The Toffees saw long-serving goalkeeper Tim Howard leave the club for MLS side Colorado Rapids earlier this summer, but new manager Ronald Koeman did manage to bring in a new goalkeeper with the signature of Maarten Stekelenburg.

Koeman and Stekelenburg may have worked together at Ajax and Southampton, but he looks set to bring in a first-choice goalkeeper this summer, even with Joel Robles already at the club.
Now, The Sun report that Everton are hoping to sign Arsenal goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny on a season-long loan deal, and are attempting to hijack Roma’s move to sign the stopper.

Polish international Szczesny, 26, has come up through the ranks at Arsenal having joined from Legia Warsaw back in 2006, but has lost his place in Arsene Wenger’s side over the last year.
First, Wenger brought in Petr Cech as his new first-choice goalkeeper, and then sent Szczesny out on loan to Italian side Roma for the whole of last season.
After playing 42 games for the Serie A giants, Szczesny is back with Arsenal, and could be heading back to the Italian capital this summer – but Everton are reportedly keen to hijack his move back to Roma and lure him to Goodison Park instead.

Arsenal may not be too keen on loaning Szczesny to a Premier League rival, and may subsequently prefer to send him to Roma again, but the player himself may feel he has a better chance of playing first-team football at Everton.
Roma have already signed a goalkeeper this summer in Brazilian star Alisson, and Szczesny may only be competition for him next season – but at Everton, he would surely be ahead of Joel and Stekelenburg, whilst he would also have the chance to re-establish himself as a top Premier League goalkeeper.
