Everton are reportedly keen on appointing Carlo Ancelotti as their new manager.
According to The Independent, Everton are interested in landing Carlo Ancelotti as their new manager following the departure of Ronald Koeman on Monday.
The Toffees backed Koeman with a host of big signings over the summer, with Jordan Pickford, Michael Keane, Davy Klaassen, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Wayne Rooney all arriving at Goodison Park, leading to huge optimism from fans.
However, Everton have fallen flat this season, winning just twice and losing five times in their first nine Premier League games of the season, with Sunday’s 5-2 home defeat to Arsenal proving to be Koeman’s last game in charge.
Koeman’s 16-month spell in charge of the Toffees is now over, and they must now work to find a replacement, with The Independent reporting that Everton hold an interest in Carlo Ancelotti.
Ancelotti, 58, recently lost his job as Bayern Munich boss despite winning the Bundesliga title last season, and the Italian is bound to be in demand given his achievements over the course of his managerial career.
The Italian has won four league titles whilst also winning the Champions League three times, building up a reputation as a world-class manager having taken charge of AC Milan, Chelsea, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain, as well as Bayern.
Everton could land a major coup by bringing Ancelotti back to the Premier League, where he won the title in 2010, but they could face a challenge tempting him into taking the job.
The report claims that Ancelotti would require major convincing to jump back into management so soon after leaving Bayern, but Everton and Farhad Moshiri may attempt to make him an offer he can’t refuse.
