Everton want to sign three more players this summer – and Olivier Giroud is still one of them.

According to The Guardian, Everton boss Ronald Koeman wants three more signings this summer – and Olivier Giroud remains one of them.

The Everton manager has already spent in excess of £100 million on transfers this summer.

But it seems like quite a while since the Toffees last signed somebody, with Cuco Martina joining on a free transfer 10 days ago.

Koeman is heavily expected to mount a serious top-four bid next season but, according to The Guardian, the Dutchman wants three more players to aid their quest to Champions League football.

The report goes on to claim that Gylfi Sigurdsson and Giroud remain targets, adding that Koeman also wants a centre-back to cover Ramiro Funes Mori.

Alexandre Lacazette’s arrival at Arsenal has strengthened Everton’s claim for Giroud but it remains to be seen whether the French striker leaves North London.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger claimed via The Mail this week that the 30-year-old is keen on fighting for his place with the Gunners in comments which would suggest that he is happy to stay.

But Giroud is likely to play second fiddle to Lacazette, so assurances of a first XI spot, coupled with an inviting pay packet might well see Everton tempt him to Goodison Park.
