Everton are reportedly looking to strengthen their midfield in January.

According to a report in the Daily Star, Everton boss Ronald Koeman is interested in signing Bastian Schweinsteiger from Manchester United.

Schweinsteiger has not featured for United this season, and has only recently returned to training for Jose Mourinho’s side.

The experienced German appears to have no future at Old Trafford, but Everton believe he could be a good addition for them.

Everton are looking to bolster their midfield department, and could make a loan move for the German international.

United are said to be willing to pay half of Schweinsteiger’s current wages, to move him on.

However, that would still mean that Everton would have to pay £100,000-per-week, meaning he would be a sizeable investment for the Goodison Park club.

If Schweinsteiger did move to Everton he would be competing with Gareth Barry for a place in Koeman’s midfield.
