According to The Sun, Everton are keen to strike a deal for RB Leipzig forward Jean-Kevin Augustin – but may have to give up Ademola Lookman to land him.
The Toffees have seen Richarlison perform admirably as a striker this season despite predominantly being a winger, but with Cenk Tosun struggling, a new forward has to be a priority.
A number of names are being linked ahead of the January transfer window, and one new name in the frame is RB Leipzig ace Augustin.
The Sun report that Everton are keen to lure the Frenchman to Goodison Park next month, though the £38million asking price is somewhat staggering.
Everton are hoping to negotiate that price down, but may have to offer up former Leipzig loanee Lookman in a part-exchange deal, in a move that may not go down well with fans.
Lookman has become a favourite of many fans, and once again showed his talent in a superb substitute appearance against Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.
Augustin, 21, has hit six goals in 18 games this season after scoring 11 times last term following a move from Paris Saint-Germain, and appears to have major potential.
Whether giving up Lookman for Augustin would be worthwhile remains to be seen, but Everton may be better off developing their own young forward rather than trading him away for another one.
