According to The Mirror (05/07, p74), Everton are now looking to sign Feyenoord defender Marcos Senesi.

The Toffees have been linked with a whole host of centre backs, including Lille’s Gabriel, Jean-Clair Todibo of Barcelona, Real Valladlid’s Mohammed Salisu and free agent Thiago Silva.

Now, Argentinian talent Senesi can be added to the list. Given that he has an Italian passport, a move to England shouldn’t be an issue.

Feyenoord want him to extend his contract, but Senesi is stalling – and the Dutch side may be willing to sell for around £18million this summer.

Formerly of San Lorenzo, Senesi joined Feyenoord in September 2019. He has starred in the Eredivisie this season, and will likely earn a big move.

Getafe, Atalanta and Sevilla are also thought to be keen. However, Marcel Brands may feel that he has something of an advantage over the competition.

Brands is a former Feyenoord player, and will hope his relationship with the Rotterdam side can help facilitate a deal for Senesi.

At 23, Senesi has plenty of potential. He also fits as a left-sided centre back, which is part of why Gabriel was being targeted.

Senesi may be a backup target, but is certainly a name to keep an eye on as Everton seek to sign a new central defender.
