Everton have made two signings this month in Theo Walcott and Cenk Tosun.

Lopez, 28, who has operated in holding midfield for the majority of his career, has been converted into a central defender this campaign with the La Liga side as he helps Quique Sanchez Flores’ side stay afloat of a a relegation battle.

It is claimed that Lopez is one of smaller earners at Espanyol and Everton have looked to take advantage of that by luring Lopez to Goodison Park, which would see him join Spaniards Joel Robles and Sandro Ramirez.
Many of clubs are said to be after the former Napoli and Huesca ace, after moving back to Spain from the Serie A title contenders in the summer of 2016.

His performances this season have even seen him considered by Spain manager Julen Lepotegui for the 2018 World Cup in Russia this summer, as he continues to shine in blue and white.
Making 26 appearances in all competitions this term, Lopez has captained Espanyol four times and helped Flores’ team keep nine clean sheets. He has a contract at the RCDE Stadium until the summer of 2020.
