Everton are interested in signing Baba Rahman from Chelsea in the summer transfer window, according to The Daily Mail.

It has been reported that Everton have asked about signing the 22-year-old left-back, who joined Chelsea from Augsburg for a transfer fee reported by The Daily Mail to be worth £14 million.

Earlier this week, The Mirror reported that Newcastle United are interested in signing the Ghana international defender.

However, it seems that neither Everton nor Newcastle would be able to secure the services of the youngster in the summer.

According to The Daily Mail, Rahman is posed to leave Chelsea for another loan spell at German club Schalke.

The former FC Augsburg defender joined Schalke on a season-long loan deal from the Blues in the summer of 2016, but the youngster suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in his left knee in January while on international duty with Ghana.

“Chelsea are keen to see how he returns as they believe he still has the potential to succeed in the Premier League,” adds the report in The Daily Mail. “However, playing regular competitive football in the Bundesliga is considered the next best step.”

If Everton and Newcastle are looking for a left-back, then it seems that they will have to look at someone other than Rahman.
