Everton reportedly want to sign the Celtic left-back this summer – and they may treble his wages.

It isn’t only Arsenal who Celtic fans have to worry about stealing Kieran Tierney; now it’s potentially Everton, too.

According to Herald Scotland, Everton, who were keen on the 22-year-old defender last year, remain interested in the exciting left-back.

Arsenal saw a £15 million bid knocked back by Celtic – who want £25 million – on Friday but, according to Herald Scotland, the Toffees will be joining the race.

The report adds that the Goodison Park side, who could treble Tierney’s £25k-a-week salary, believe that ‘this transfer window will culminate in the left-back leaving after years of him turning down lucrative opportunities’.

The Herald also claims that Napoli and Brendan Rodgers’s Leicester City may be joining the race for Tierney, who has already amassed 167 senior games for the Scottish Premiership champions.

Will a move to Everton happen?

Probably not, no. The thing here is that a move to Marco Silva’s side doesn’t make a whole lot of sense.

If Everton were in the market for another left-back to challenge Lucas Digne, why extend Leighton Baines’s contract?

Silva and Marcel Brands signed up the veteran defender to a new one-year deal this week, which means that he, not Tierney, will be shadowing the Frenchman next season.
