According to Calciomercato, Claudio Ranieri is also a contender to replace Carlo Ancelotti at Everton, after his shock return to Real Madrid.

What’s the story?

Well, the Italian news outlet state that there is no shortage of options for the vacancy at Goodison Park.

Andrea Pirlo is a name also mentioned within Calciomercato’s report, while the likes of David Moyes and Roberto Martínez have also been linked.

Calciomercato don’t actually go into much detail about Ranieri.

The 69-year-old’s name is merely mentioned as a candidate, before they go on to discuss Pirlo in a bit more detail.

Nevertheless, Ranieri is certainly an interesting option, as his time in the Premier League has been pretty hit and miss.

Hard to tell how Ranieri will perform

If you told Everton fans they’d be getting the Ranieri who led Leicester to the Premier League title, they’d surely be happy to see him arrive.

However, it’s very possible that the Toffees get a version of the Italian who was sacked by Leicester in 2017, with the Foxes threatened by relegation.

He was also sacked by Chelsea in June 2004.

Despite that, Ranieri’s CV – in terms of life in the Premier League – is quite good.

Ranieri also won Premier League Manager of the Season after guiding Leicester to the title.

In total, he’s won 560 games as a manager, which is very impressive.

He might be a slightly underwhelming choice to replace Ancelotti, although Ranieri has definitely proven himself in England before.
