The big news in football last week was the future of Everton striker Romelu Lukaku. The Belgian striker rejected a new deal at Goodison Park as it becomes clear he wishes to play Champions League football.

Since then the rumour mill has churned regarding possible replacements. Now one has come up which has remarkable parallels with the Everton striker himself. Reports in Holland, including from SoccerNews, suggest that Everton want to sign Bertrand Traore from Chelsea.

The Burkina Faso forward, currently out on loan at Ajax, is a top young talent who, like Lukaku, cannot see himself getting a break at Stamford Bridge in the long-term.

Lukaku will no doubt be something of an inspiration for Traore, who finds himself in a very similar position, and may consider following his footsteps to Merseyside.

The 21-year-old, who has thrived on loan at Vitesse Arnhem in the past, has managed just nine goals for Ajax this season but is still considered a top talent.

Everton might be wise following their Lukaku model with the young Burkinabe star.
