Newcastle United, Leicester City, West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace have been linked with Everton’s James McCarthy in the summer transfer window.

Premier League club Everton value midfielder James McCarthy at £25 million, according to The Daily Mail.

It has been reported that Leicester City, who won the Premier League title in 2015-16, have made an enquiry for the Republic of Ireland international.

Newcastle United, West Bromwich Albion and Crystal Palace have also been credited with interest in the 26-year-old.

Should Everton lower James McCarthy demands?

McCarthy is a good midfielder and has a lot of experience in the Premier League, but if Everton want to get him off their books, then they should lower their demands.

It is hard to see Leicester, Newcastle, West Brom or Palace cough up £25m for a player who struggled with a hamstring injury last season and is not guaranteed a place in the Toffees’ starting lineup when he is fit.

If manager Ronald Koeman considers the former Hamilton Academical and Wigan Athletic midfielder surplus to requirements, then Everton should settle for a transfer fee lower than £25m, maybe £15m.
