Besiktas wanted to sign Cenk Tosun from Everton in the summer transfer window, according to Fotomac.

Tosun joined Everton from Besiktas in the January transfer window for a fee reported by Sky Sports to be worth £27 million and when Sam Allardyce was the manager of the Toffees.

According to Fotomac, the Turkish giants wanted to bring the striker back in the summer transfer window, but Everton sporting director Marcel Brands turned down their approach.

Future at Everton?

Brands reporting turning down Besiktas approach for Tosun shows that Everton have not given up on the Turkey international striker yet.

The 27-year-old striker scored five goals in 12 Premier League starts for the Toffees during the second half of last season, according to WhoScored.

So far this campaign, the former Gaziantepspor man has provided two assists in five league matches for Everton, according to WhoScored.

Tosun is a good striker, but it is clear that he has to step up and start scoring regularly for Everton.
