Everton could be nearing a decision on Sam Allardyce’s future.
According to the Daily Mail, Everton are set to hold a board meeting within the next few days, which could determine Sam Allardyce’s future with the club.
The Toffees are busy preparing for Monday’s home game against Newcastle United, but head into the game with little to play for after a disappointing season.
Hopes of pushing for the top six were quickly quelled by a torrid start to the campaign, and Sam Allardyce was brought in to steady the ship after Ronald Koeman’s exit in October.
Allardyce has kept Everton in the Premier League at least, but his brand of football and his general approach haven’t meshed well with Toffees fans, and many want him to go after some patchy results in 2018.
Allardyce may have signed an 18 month deal back in November, but the Daily Mail report that Everton will hold a board meeting this week in which they may decide to let Allardyce go.
Portuguese duo Paulo Fonseca of Shakhtar Donetsk and free agent Marco Silva are once again named as potential replacements, with Everton seemingly looking for a younger, continental manager to come in.
That may just spell the end for Allardyce, and ahead of what is set to be a low-key end to the season for Everton, majority shareholder Farhad Moshiri may be about to decide to go in a different direction this summer.
