Rangers may be in the market for a midfielder this summer, and they’re being linked with a move for one Merseyside-based talent.
Goal report that Rangers want to land Liverpool’s Pedro Chirivella this summer. The Spaniard is out of contract this summer, and Steven Gerrard allegedly wants to sign the 22-year-old.
Across Stanley Park, Everton are set to let a midfielder go this summer – and Gerrard reportedly wanted to bring him to Rangers back in 2018.
The Liverpool Echo report that Everton will let Alex Denny leave the club this summer. His contract ends in June, and the Toffees won’t hand him an extension.
After Gerrard’s arrival as Rangers boss in 2018, the Echo claimed that Denny was a Rangers target. The Gers boss was seemingly aware of Denny from his knowledge of football on Merseyside, and wanted to sign him.
In the end, Everton ended up giving him a new two-year deal, keeping him out of Rangers’ clutches. Sadly, it hasn’t really gone to plan for Denny since then.

The 20-year-old hasn’t been able to get any closer to the Everton first team, and will now be let go on a free transfer with the Toffees seemingly feeling he won’t progress to Premier League action.
Maybe Rangers will be back in for Denny; their pursuit of Chirivella won’t be easy, and Gerrard’s prior interest in Denny means a move could make some sense – especially on a free transfer.
