Everton have benefited from a number of youngsters breaking into the first team.
The Daily Mail have claimed in their live transfer blog (Thursday, 16:59) that Everton are set to offer midfielder Beni Baningime a new contract – despite the youngster only signing a new deal in October.
The 19-year-old put pen to paper three months ago on a two-and-a-half-year deal that would see his contract end in the summer of 2020, after breaking into the Toffees first team.
He joins the likes of Tom Davies, Jonjoe Kenny, Dom Calvert-Lewin and Mason Holgate in coming through the ranks in order to star in the blue of Everton at Goodison Park, despite the Toffees boasting huge central midfield competition.
The likes of Davies, James McCarthy, Idrissa Gueye, Morgan Schneiderlin, Wayne Rooney, Davy Klaassen and Muhamed Besic provide plenty of rivalry for places, but Baningime has shrugged that off to make nine appearances this term.
Despite his recent new deal, manager Sam Allardyce is seemingly keen to offer the DR Congo-born midfielder a new contract in order to tie down one of Everton’s most exciting young talents at Goodison Park for years to come.
Everton are known for their faith in youth, which has seen them sign the likes of Ademola Lookman, Henry Onyekuru and Josh Bowler in recent times, along with giving rising stars from their own academy a chance.
Now, it appears as though Baningime will continue to thrive on that ethos with a new deal at Goodison Park being prepared.
