Report: Everton to miss out on 75-cap target, big MLS offer is on the table

Everton look set to miss out on the signing of Aaron Ramsey with the Welsh midfielder set to choose between a move to MLS side Charlotte FC or Ligue 1 club OGC Nice.

According to the Daily Mail, the 31-year-old will decide on his future soon after Ramsey was released by Juventus, with the former Arsenal superstar already having two offers on the table from Charlotte and Nice, the former of which is a club-record contract from the newly-formed MLS side.

Charlotte only joined the American top-flight this year and are looking to make Ramsey their highest-paid player if the midfielder chooses to sign for the MLS franchise, with fellow Wales international Gareth Bale already making the move out to America this summer to join Los Angeles FC ahead of the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

A 75-cap Wales international, Ramsey will be one of Rob Page’s most important players this winter if the midfielder can stay fully fit and match-ready ahead of the historic tournament for the Dragons, and for Everton, they now look set to miss out on the signing of the former Premier League star.

Frank Lampard’s side have been linked with Ramsey this summer, and despite how much sense the move would make, it appears that the midfielder will either take his talents to the French Riviera with Nice or to North Carolina with Charlotte in MLS.

Indeed, MLS could be an ideal move for Ramsey given that the season is already halfway through and that Bale has already impressed with LAFC since moving to America this summer, and the former Juventus midfielder could enjoy a similar experience if he signs for Charlotte.

Signing for Charlotte could be the reawaking of Ramsey

It’s quite easy to forget just how good Ramsey as a player can be on his day, with the Welshman one of Arsenal’s best players in the last decade and a talent who always came up big on the grandest of stages, and a move to MLS with Charlotte could see the midfielder recapture this form.

Like with Bale, a move away from the European spotlight could do Ramsey some good, and with the midfielder a guarantee for the Wales squad if can stay fit, the 31-year-old can focus on getting himself fit and into the best form possible ahead of the World Cup in Qatar this November.
