Everton are reportedly making last-gasp effort to sign Fiorentina’s Nikola Kalinic.
According to reports from The Sunday Mirror (printed edition; page 60), Ronald Koeman is making a “last-gasp effort” to sign Nikola Kalinic from Fiorentina.
Everton are in the market for a new centre forward before the transfer window closes, having sold Romelu Lukaku to Manchester United.
The report claims that Kalinic has not only emerged as a shock contender to replace the Belgian, but the powerful striker is also top priority for Ronald Koeman.
Having failed to prise Olivier Giroud away from Arsenal and Edin Dzeko from Roma, the Toffees boss turned his attention to the unhappy Croatia striker.
The 29-year-old has refused to train with the Viola and could fancy moving to the Premier League again having failed with Blackburn previously.
Serie A giants AC Milan are reportedly interested as well. They have set up an initial £4 million loan fee for the season, with the agreement to complete a permanent £22 milllion deal next summer.
According to Tutto Mercato Web, Everton have already made a €29million (£26.6million) bid for the forward. The Mirror adds that Everton are hoping to persuade the striker to move to the Premier league instead.
