Everton and Newcastle United are reportedly keen on Alassane Plea.
According to Calciomercato, Everton and Newcastle United are pursuing Nice striker Alassane Plea this summer after his impressive season in France.
Plea, 25, came up through the ranks with Lyon before heading to Nice in 2014, and the forward scored just nine goals in his first two seasons with the club.
However, Plea excelled last season with 14 goals in all competitions, and he has continued to impress this season having hit 18 goals in total, adding five assists as well.
The forward, who can play out wide or up front, is now attracting interest off the back of his displays for Nice, with Calciomercato reporting that Everton and Newcastle United are keen.
Burnley are also thought to be keen on Plea, who is a versatile and well-rounded forward with pace, strength and technical ability on top of his versatility.
Everton spent big on Cenk Tosun in January to boost their attack, but with goals still hard to come by, they could yet invest in Plea as a versatile attacking option for Sam Allardyce – or whoever else may be in charge next season.
A move to Newcastle makes the most sense though. With Islam Slimani yet to prove that he’s worth a permanent deal, Rafael Benitez needs a new striker, and whilst Newcastle’s history of signing players from France isn’t exactly stellar, Plea would fit the bill as a striker who can lead the line and find the net for the Magpies.
