The Sporting Lisbon striker would be a huge statement of intent for Everton this season, but Sevilla and Newcastle are lingering.

As Everton look to rebuild their squad in the Marco Silva era at Goodison Park, the latest reports from Dutch newspaper Algemeen Dadgblad suggest that Everton are set to rival Sevilla and Newcastle in their pursuit of Dutch Sporting Lisbon striker Bas Dost.
In AD’s report, they state that the appeal of Marcel Brands, Everton’s director of football, and new manager Marco Silva could tempt the Dutchman into a move to the Premier League.

The 29-year-old forward has been at Sporting for nearly two years, after moving from Wolfsburg in 2016.
This season, Dost has played 44 times for Sporting Lisbon in all competitions, including a run to the quarter-finals of the Europa League, where they narrowly lost to eventual winners Atletico Madrid. Dost scored 33 goals in those 44 games, including 27 in 30 in the Liga NOS.

Additionally, Dost managed to achieve four assists, eight man of the match awards and an impressive average of 4.8 aerials won per game, proving his dominance in the air.
Dost is very much a physical striker, perhaps something that Everton have lacked in recent years; and therefore could work quite well with Theo Walcott in attack.
