Everton continue to be linked with midfielder William Carvalho.

According to The Mirror, Everton are prepared to ‘wait and see’ what happens with midfielder William Carvalho as confusion continues over his Sporting contract.
The Toffees have yet to kickstart their summer transfer business, but with new manager Marco Silva and sporting director Marcel Brands now on board, business should get moving soon.
Everton will be looking for a number of new signings, and a holding midfielder may be wanted to partner Idrissa Gueye, given that Morgan Schneiderlin hasn’t lived up to expectations at Goodison Park.

Everton have been strongly linked with a move for William Carvalho, and their hopes of securing him were boosted on Monday when Portuguese newspaper O Jogo carried the news that Carvalho has become the latest player to terminate his contract with Sporting.
Carvalho is joining Rui Patricio, Gelson Martins, Bruno Fernandes, Daniel Podence and Bas Dost in terminating his deal, after the club’s fans launched a bizarre attack on the Sporting players in a training session.
Carvalho – widely valued at around £30million – could now be available for free, and The Mirror report that Everton are prepared to bide their time and see what happens with his contract situation.

New boss Silva worked with Carvalho at Sporting and is thought to be keen on a reunion, boosting the Everton side with a powerful midfielder who boasts an impressive passing range.
Yet, with Sporting no doubt ready to contest his contract termination and a lengthy battle ahead, Everton’s ‘wait and see’ approach may be wise right now, saving themselves from getting involved in another wrangle after landing Silva.
