Everton are reportedly looking at an audacious move for Wilfried Zaha.
According to Goal, Everton think that Tottenham Hotspur and even Liverpool will make a bid for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha if they make their own move this summer.
The Toffees – as well as Tottenham – are yet to make a new signing this summer, and are one of the few Premier League clubs yet to dip into the transfer market for new additions.
New manager Marco Silva will be desperate for additions before the transfer deadline though, and he seems to be in the market for a new winger given questions over the futures of both Ademola Lookman and Yannick Bolasie.
Tentative links over the last week have suggested that Everton want Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha in a blockbuster move, and Goal now report that the Toffees are indeed considering a bid.
However, their report states that Everton feel a bid would spark interest from two Premier League rivals; Tottenham Hotspur and Merseyside enemies Liverpool.
It’s stated that Palace would want at least £50million for their star winger, but Everton may feel that a deal is beyond them given that two clubs with Champions League football could enter the race.
Zaha, 25, is starring in his second spell at Selhurst Park, and hit nine goals and three assists in just 29 Premier League games, and the Eagles really struggled without their talismanic wide man.
Once defined by pace and trickery and not much else, Zaha has added real end product to his game, and it’s no great surprise that top clubs are keen to land his signature, though Everton’s interest doesn’t seem like enough of a step up considering his record with Palace.
With Liverpool adding Xherdan Shaqiri on Friday, they may no longer be in the market for another winger, but Tottenham have been tracking Zaha for two years now, and Everton’s fears about them making a move may be more realistic.
