Everton are reportedly battling Tottenham Hotspur for Andre Gomes.

Andre Gomes of Everton arrives for the Premier League match between Fulham FC and Everton FC at Craven Cottage on April 13, 2019 in London, England.

According to the Liverpool ECHO, Everton believe midfielder Andre Gomes wants to sign a permanent deal at Goodison Park despite interest from elsewhere.

The Toffees were active in the summer transfer window last year, and lured three players from Barcelona as Lucas Digne and Yerry Mina arrived permanently, and Gomes on loan.

Mina has endured an up-and-down year, whilst Digne has been an absolute sensation at Goodison Park, and Gomes has become a popular figure at Goodison Park too.

The 25-year-old is set to return to Barcelona in a matter of weeks though, but he has no future at the Camp Nou and will almost certainly be sold on this summer.

The Liverpool ECHO now claim that Inter Milan and Roma both want Gomes, but Everton are confident that Gomes wants to join the Toffees permanently over a move elsewhere.

That’s particularly encouraging as The Telegraph recently claimed that Tottenham are hoping to swoop in and sign Gomes ahead of Everton, with chairman Daniel Levy willing to sanction a £30million bid.

Tottenham will still be a major threat given that they can offer Champions League football and playing at their brand new stadium, but playing under compatriot Marco Silva at Goodison may just sway Gomes into staying put.

Currently suspended, Gomes has picked up a goal and an assist in 26 Premier League appearances this season, and also showed his aggressive side with yellow cards.
