James Rodriguez has provisionally agreed a three-year deal with Everton, ESPN report, but the club feel that his asking price is over the top.
Real Madrid apparently want at least £22 million for their unwanted playmaker, which Everton believe is too much to pay in the current market.
Madrid still think that an agreement will happen soon though, with Everton now close to landing what would be one of their most ambitious signings in recent years.
Rodriguez may not have had a major impact last season, but he remains a wonderfully gifted player.
The Colombian is his nation’s talisman, and he has represented the likes of Madrid, Bayern Munich and Monaco in a glistening career.

Rodriguez should improve the quality of Everton’s side by a huge distance, as they aim to better last season’s disappointing displays.
Everton are likely to put Rodriguez straight into their first-team, with their opening game coming against Tottenham Hotspur on September 13th.
