Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye continues to attract interest.
According to Foot Mercato in France, Everton have told Idrissa Gueye’s agent that there will be no deal with Paris Saint-Germain during this month’s transfer window.
PSG are in the market for a central midfielder this month, and continue to be linked with Watford’s Abdoulaye Doucoure as well as Everton ace Gueye.
The Senegal international, 29, has impressed for Everton since his 2016 move from Aston Villa, playing a key role in midfielder under Ronald Koeman, Sam Allardyce and now Marco Silva.
Gueye has impressed so much that PSG are now keen to lure the former Lille ace back to France, which must be appealing given that PSG are perennial title challengers and a Champions League contender.
However, Foot Mercato now report that Everton have responded to the rumours about a move to PSG by telling Gueye’s agent that no deal will take place this month.
Everton clearly don’t want to lose such an important player this month, as it would be very difficult to replace him in the middle of the season.
Everton themselves have been linked with Doucoure, though relations between Watford and Everton aren’t exactly peachy given the battle over Silva’s services.
The Toffees may be more willing to deal Gueye over the summer, when they have more time to think about a replacement, but it currently seems like Gueye can forget about a move back to France with PSG.
