PSG have reportedly placed rumoured Everton target Georginio Wijnaldum on the transfer list, with the French giants keen to sell the former Liverpool star following the arrival of new manager Christophe Galtier.

According to Le Parisien, the Dutch international is one of 11 players PSG want to sell this summer, with Wijnaldum only signing for the Ligue 1 giants last year following his departure from Anfield, where the midfielder has struggled massively for form and fitness.

With a reported wage of £180,000-a-week and Galtier making it his mission this summer to make PSG a cohesive unit not powered by superstar individuals, it makes sense why the European giants want to sell Wijnaldum, with Everton reportedly interested in the midfielder.

Reports claim that the Toffees are one of a handful of Premier League sides looking at signing Wijnaldum, with Leicester City, West Ham and Wolves also interested in the 31-year-old, who could be open to a return to the Premier League this summer.

Wijnaldum was a star for Liverpool in the 2019 UEFA Champions League triumph and 2020 Premier League title win, and a comeback in England would be a logical next step for the midfielder given how much PSG want to sell the midfielder, though Everton could be an unrealistic move.

Indeed, Wijnaldum is considered a cult hero at Anfield, and joining Everton of all clubs could tarnish the midfielder’s reputation amongst Liverpool fans, though with PSG desperate to sell, the Toffees could be the Dutchman’s only option.

As well as their direct rivalry with Liverpool, Wijnaldum will be hoping for a move other than Everton given how poorly the Toffees performed last season and how little the club have done this summer to improve the squad, with James Tarkowski the side’s only new signing.

Whilst there is still over a month before the window shuts, Everton’s prospects of a successful season remain very low, and for Wijnaldum, he would ideally want PSG to offload him to a club where he will be a star player and contest for silverware.
