Everton are reportedly viewing Oguzhan Ozyakup as an alternative to Jack Wilshere.
According to Turkish-Football.com, Everton are keeping tabs on Besiktas playmaker Oguzhan Ozyakup as they consider alternatives to Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere.
The Toffees have spent heavily on new signings over the last year, but have garnered little success in the Premier League, with recent results potentially costing Sam Allardyce his job.
A new midfielder appears to be on Everton’s wish list this summer no matter who is in charge, and recent speculation has linked them with a move for Arsenal’s Jack Wilshere.
However, the England ace is out of contract this summer and will be inundated with offers, and it’s now claimed that Turkish ace Oguzhan Ozyakup is wanted as an alternative target.
Ozyakup, 25, came up through the Arsenal ranks with Wilshere in an ironic twist, but left for Besiktas in 2012 in order to pursue first-team football in Turkey.
The midfielder has racked up 27 goals and 47 assists in 212 games for Besiktas, whilst he now has 30 caps for Turkey having become an important player for club and country.
Ozyakup is a technically gifted playmaker who can dictate play from deep or get forward to support the attack, and could now join Everton striker Cenk Tosun at Goodison Park, having played together at Besiktas and with Turkey.
Much like Wilshere, Ozyakup is out of contract this summer and can be signed for nothing, making him a potentially perfect alternative if Everton can’t land Wilshere.
