Everton have reportedly received a boost in their pursuit of Marco Silva, with the Portuguese supposedly not interested in the West Ham United job.
Despite being dismissed by Watford this past season, Silva appears to be a highly-coveted name heading into the summer, with The Guardian reporting that he is being heavily linked with the Goodison Park post in the wake of Big Sam’s exit earlier this week, while West Ham have also been touted as a potential destination for the 40-year-old.
The Hammers are also on the lookout for a new manager with David Moyes leaving after his contract at the London Stadium expired. The Irons hierarchy have wasted little time trying to find the Scotsman’s successor, with The Guardian reporting that the likes of Rafa Benitez, Paulo Fonseca, Unai Emery and Manuel Pellegrini have also been on the radar.
However, The Guardian suggests that Silva has little interest in making the move to West Ham – perhaps helping pave the way for the former Hull City boss to head to Everton if they manage to agree terms with Silva.
It is not clear why exactly Silva is not interested in considering the West Ham job, but perhaps it should concern the Hammers fans ever so slightly given that he is not a marquee name in comparison with some of the others on the shortlist.
If there have been any discussions between Silva and the Hammers hierarchy – and the report does not suggest whether there were or not – the supporters would be forgiven for wondering why the Portuguese is seemingly not keen on remaining in the running, even if he may feel that he may be closing in on the Everton job.
