Everton are reportedly targeting Anderlecht star Kara Mbodji.

According to the Daily Mail, Everton are eyeing up Anderlecht’s Kara Mbodji as a possible alternative to Napoli’s star centre back Kalidou Koulibaly.
The Toffees are expected to be in the market for a new centre back whether John Stones leaves the club or not, and new defenders are being linked on what seems to be a daily basis.

Now, the Daily Mail report that, with Everton quoted a stunning £40m for Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly, they are turning their attentions to possible alternatives – and one target could in fact be an international team-mate of Koulibaly.
It’s claimed that the Toffees are eyeing up a move for Anderlecht defender Kara Mbodji, who plays with Koulibaly for the Senegal national team.
Mbodji, 26, joined Anderlecht from Belgian rivals Genk last summer, having originally made his name as a holding midfielder in Norway with Tromso.
Now predominantly a centre back, Mbodji – who stands just shy of 6ft 4in tall – scored three goals in 43 games for Anderlecht last season, and could be heading to Goodison Park thanks to a release clause in his contract.
It’s claimed that Mbodji can leave for a Premier League team for just £6.2m if the offer is made before August 5th, and Everton may look to take advantage of that, with new director of football Steve Walsh known to be a fan of Mbodji.
The report adds that Walsh had weighed up a move to sign Mbodji for former club Leicester, and having been told to find an ‘uncompromising defender’, he’s now circled back to Mbodji – and could finally land his man in a bargain deal this summer.
