Everton and their manager Marco Silva are set for a busy summer transfer window as they push for those European places.

Spanish outlet Sport recently stated that with Jordan Pickford’s future at Everton under threat, they were looking at Barcelona goalkeeper, Jasper Cillessen as his potential replacement.
Well, it seems that the Holland international is set to make a move this summer, but he is now seemingly set to stay in Spain and move to Valencia instead, according to ESPN.
Since moving to the Nou Camp from Dutch giants Ajax in 2016, Cillessen has played a back-up role to the key man in between Barcelona’s stick, Marc-Andre Ter Stegen.
But it now seems that Sport’s report that Cillessen could be leaving Barcelona are true, but his destination is going to be the Mestalla instead of Goodison Park.
Last season, Pickford endured an indifferent campaign for the Toffees as they produced a top-eight finish in Marco Silva’s first season in charge at the club.

Pickford simply can’t replicate that type of form again next season because it would prove to be costly for his team. Therefore, adding in more competition in the goalkeeping area might suit the Toffees long-term ambitions.
Most recently, Pickford would have come up against Cillessen when the duo were playing for England and Holland, respectively in the UEFA Nations League.
The Dutch won that semi-final encounter in extra-time and ended up losing in the final to Portugal. On the other hand, Pickford was the hero against Switzerland as Gareth Southgate’s side secured third spot with a penalty shoot-out win.
