Everton may have new hope of signing Anthony Elanga as the Manchester United winger seeks a summer move away from Old Trafford.

The Toffees have been chasing Elanga for some time now.

Everton wanted to sign Elanga before the summer transfer deadline according to the Daily Mail, and were chasing a loan deal as United chased Brazil winger Antony.

Despite the Ajax star finalising his move to Old Trafford, United still didn’t allow Elanga out.

The rumour returned in January as The Mail again suggested that Everton wanted to take Elanga on loan.

It wasn’t to be as Everton somehow came out of the January window without adding new attacking quality.

The Mail now have another update about Elanga, suggesting that he now wants to leave United this summer.

The report claims that Elanga is ‘keen for a fresh challenge’ and 12 clubs are now interested in signing him.

We can only assume that Everton are one of them, and a permanent move may not be out of the question if the Toffees stay up.

Anthony Elanga needs to move on

Elanga clearly has real talent.

Hailed as ‘electric’ by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, the 20-year-old caused major problems for Trent Alexander-Arnold back in August.

Elanga has struggled for playing time this season though and has even been pushed down by Alejandro Garnacho this season.

The Swedish international has started just five Premier League games this term with an additional 11 substitute appearances.

Elanga simply cannot go through this for another year.

If Elanga stays at United and remains a bit-part player, his development will keep stalling and he won’t reach the heights we know he can hit.

A move away is imperative for Elanga and if Everton stay up, this is the kind of signing that Sean Dyche may need in an attempt to boost the attack at Goodison Park.
