Report: Everton target another Sheffield United youngster in defender Sam Graham

Everton signed Dominic Calvert-Lewin from Sheffield United last year and wanted David Brooks too – now, The Toffees are after Sam Graham.

Everton’s Under-23s marched to the Premier League 2 title last season but The Toffees are not about to get complacent.

The Merseyside giants have reinforced their already impressive youth ranks by signing the likes of QPR winger Josh Bowler and Newcastle United’s highly-rated left-back Lewis Gibson in recent months and it appears that there is a new name on their radar.

The Liverpool Echo claims that Everton have been watching highly-rated Sheffield United centre-back Sam Graham ahead of a possible approach in the January transfer window.

Graham only penned his first professional contract with The Blades back in March after an impressive campaign with the club’s development side and is currently tied to Sheffield United until 2020.

That may not stop Everton attempting to lure the teenager to Goodison Park, however. The Toffees paid around £8 million combined for Bowler and Gibson despite the duo managing just one senior appearance between them so are clearly willing to take a punt on unproven young talent.

This is not the first time Everton have attempted to take away one of Sheffield United’s prized assets, however. The Toffees nabbed Dominic Calvert-Lewin in the summer of 2016 and have also been heavily linked with young Blades midfielder David Brooks (below) in recent months, per TEAMtalk.

Brooks, who was crowned as the best player in England’s victorious Toulon Tournament campaign in the summer, signed a new four-year contract Bramall Lane earlier this month to put an end to speculation linking him with a move to Goodison Park.

Though Sheffield United may have to fend off Everton’s interest again with Graham earning rave reviews.
