Former USA coach Jurgen Klinsmann
Everton have taken Jonathan Kilnsmann, son of the former Tottenham Hotspur striker, Jurgen, on trial, according to the Daily Mail.
Goalkeeper Klinsmann, who plays for California University, is reportedly due at Everton’s Finch Farm training ground next month, after travelling to London with the United States’ Under-20 squad.
The 19-year-old is said to have caught the eye en route to winning this month’s CONCACAF Under 20 Championship, where he was awarded the tournament’s Golden Glove.
Klinsmann, whose father was sacked as USA head coach last year, is said to hold a German passport, ensuring he would not require a work permit in order to sign for Everton.
The Daily Mail also reports that Everton’s American left-back Antonee Robinson – who will link up with Klinsmann and teammates in London next month – is attracting interest from England and overseas with his contract due to expire this summer.
Meanwhile, another of the Toffees’ cross-Atlantic contingent Peter Vint has today left his position as the club’s academy director.
It emerged this week that Vint’s son, Will, who had also trialled at Everton, was heading for Manchester United instead, although it is unclear whether or not the two events are linked.
