Carlo Ancelotti’s Everton have submitted an offer for £18 million-rated Lille defender Zeki Celik, according to Turkish Football.

Despite Ben Godfrey’s best efforts, signing a right-back is one of Everton’s top priorities at the moment.

Seamus Coleman is 32 after all and, given their skipper may be entering his autumn days at the top level, it makes sense to plan for the future.

Norwich City speedster Max Aarons is also on the radar but, according to Eurosport, the former Barcelona target won’t come cheap.

Norwich have previously said the bidding for Aarons would start at about £30 million – too much, it seems, for an Everton side now scouring the market for more affordable alternatives.

And Celik, valued at a comparatively meagre £18 million, feels like exactly that.

Everton looked at the attack-minded Turkey international during the summer, according to The Times. And Turkish Football reports the Merseyside giants have now submitted an offer with Lille, who are in the middle of a financial nightmare, willing to cash in for the right fee.

Speaking to SoFoot last year, Celik admitted he was interested in a potential move to the Premier League.

The 23-year-old added Tottenham made an approach of their own but, with Serge Aurier silencing his critics and Matt Doherty impressing, it seems unlikely Everton will face competition from Jose Mourinho’s side this month.
