According to the Liverpool Echo, Everton striker Romelu Lukaku is set to sign a new contract with the club worth more than £100,000-a-week.
Lukaku, 23, first joined Everton on loan from Chelsea back in 2013, scoring 16 goals in 33 games during his season-long stay at Goodison Park – and the Toffees were so impressed that they made his move a permanent one in 2014.

The Belgian international’s goal tally for Everton now stands at 70 goals in 144 games, and the 6ft 3in hitman has now become one of the most dangerous strikers in the Premier League.
Unfortunately for Everton, Lukaku’s goalscoring record and their successive 11th placed finishes in the Premier League have led to major speculation on Lukaku’s future, with many believing that he would be leaving Goodison Park in 2017.

However, the Liverpool Echo now report that Lukaku is now on the verge of extending his contract with the Toffees, in a record-breaking deal which will make him the highest-paid player in the club’s history.
It’s claimed that Lukaku is in the final stages of advanced talks to extend his contract, having decided to remain with Everton for at least one more season in what many will see as a shock decision given how many of Europe’s elite clubs would love to sign him.
The news will serve as a major boost for manager Ronald Koeman, who saw defender John Stones leave the club for Manchester City over the summer, and the deal will again suggest that Everton have major ambition thanks to shareholder Farhad Moshiri.
Moshiri looks ready to splash the cash on new signings, and keeping the club’s top players will also give fans real belief that great times are around the corner at Goodison Park.
